Willenhall History Society
Near to the centre of Willenhall is this pleasant green area, once the main Methodist cemetery for the town. Many graves remain and the area has recently been tidied up, after which a plaque was erected.
Victoria Tildesley, a victim of the cholera epidemic, was the first person to be buried here on September 6th 1849 in what was then a Wesleyan burial ground. The local authority took over in 1857 and since then about 17,800 burials have taken place. The last burial was Councillor Lillian Reid MBE who died in 1986 aged 102.
Within the grounds there are several imposing memorials to well known Willenhall families.
