Ingledew Close. A street situated off Overdale Drive but the origins of the name are unknown. In all probability it is just a nice sounding name and the product of someone's fertile imagination.
Instow Close. Named after the town of Instow near Bideford in the county of Devon.
Isis Grove. The River Thames at Oxford is known as the Isis, from the Latin Thamesis. But is has never been defined where the Thames begins and the Isis ends. Each May the river is like a Venetian carnival when colleges row against each other in eights week. Crews try to bump the boat in front of them. The leading crew at the end of four days wins the title, Head of the River. Isis is also a figure in Egyptian mythology, wife and sister of Osiris and mother of Horus. After the murder of Osiris by his brother Seth (or Set) Isis managed to find and put together the dismembered parts of Osiris body and magically revive him. The epitome of fidelity and maternal devotion, veneration of her, particularly as the protectress of children, was spread throughout the ancient world by the Ptolemies and the Romans.
